How to Keep Fresh Herbs Fresh For a Week

Fresh herbs wilt fast. But there's a simple trick that actually works, no fancy containers needed. Wrap them in a damp paper towel and store them in a sealed jar in the back of your fridge. The moisture keeps them alive without making them soggy. The sealed container keeps the air stable. They'll stay fresh for about a week—sometimes longer. Or, if you're going to use them within a day, just snip the stems and put them in water like flowers, on the counter. They'll stay perky. For herbs like basil, never put them in the cold. Basil hates the cold. Keep it at room temperature, stems in water. It'll last 4-5 days that way. The real key: use them often. Fresh herbs are meant to move fast. Plan your meals around them, not the other way around.
